About Us

We are a retired couple that enjoys everything the Lakeway community in the Texas Hill Country near Austin has to offer. We love the beautiful views on RR620 and along Capital of Texas, 360. Get up to Mt. Bonnell if you haven't been there before -- what a view. We like to play tennis, breakfast at Lago Cafe, dine at Rough Hollow Grill, walk the trails, go to Lake Travis. There are many other good restaurants in the area that we continue to sample.

We have made countless trips to the local Home Depot as we have been making improvements to the condo.

Cristy Hansen, long-time friend and owner of NuTech Texas, and her staff did an absolutely beautiful job of restoring the travertine and other tile, and the carpeting.

We ran the Austin Statesman Cap10K race in early April 2010 once again. This is the third time we've run it together. We have also run the San Antonio Rock and Roll Half-Marathon and the Houston Aramco Half-Marathon and a clutch of other fun races. Our very most favorite group of runners is Bay Area Fit.

We enjoy digital photography and we will be continually updating this web site as our photographic skills improve.

May 7, 2010 -- Took my first run on the jogging path on Lakeway Blvd. Only went 4.4 miles but it felt like a lot more. According to my Garmin Forerunner, I ascended 708 feet. Yes. Lakeway is good for marathon hill training!

May 8, 2010 -- Took our bikes out for a ride on Highlands Blvd. Yikes! Those hills are h-a-r-d!

May 15-16, 2010 -- Attended the "First Ever HomeAway Summit" in Austin. Excellent and immediately rewarding. Looking forward to next year's summit. Saw the "Griswolds on Vacation" videos. What a hoot.
We'll be back in Austin for Marlys'es Danskin Triathlon on June 6. Wish her luck!

June 6, 2010 -- Marlys ran the Danskin Austin 2010 Triathlon!

June 24, 2010 -- While standing in line this morning at the BayBrook Apple store to get the latest iPhone, I found out about a couple of very apropos tools for our guests if they use the iPhone. The first is called "Trip Splitter". From the description at DC Software Arts, "Trip Splitter is an easy way to manage expenses while traveling with friends. There are lots of expense splitter apps, but none that have the ease of use and full functionality of Trip Splitter. Trip Splitter was designed from the ground up to intuitively let you specify and manage expense items - who paid for the item and who participated in the expense.  And at any point, just turn the iPhone, Touch or iPad sideways to see the simplest number of payments for everyone to get even." It really is a very easy to use tool for the iPhone. The other tool is Bill Split OCR or Bill Split EZ. With this tool you can take a good picture of the restaurant bill and then very easily have the tool figure out who owes what. More info here.

January 26, 2011 -- The holidays are behind us, finally. Now starts a new season and the current good news for potential guests is that we have cut our off-season rates by 25%; that is between now and May 1st. Soooo, if you can get away from your job, now is a good time to enjoy sunny, and relatively warm, World of Tennis in Lakeway, Texas. You can take nice, long hikes along trails and play tennis in the afternoons, and curl up in the living room in the evening to read or watch TV.
